Patricia M. Soldano
PRESIDENT

Ms. Patricia M. Soldano has spent over 20 years managing family assets, and has established family offices for the Brown Family of California, the Plimpton Family of New Jersey, and the Field Family of Illinois. She developed Cymric Family Office Services into a multi-family office, which now serves ten families and since January 1996, has been its owner.

Ms. Soldano’s principal responsibilities at Cymric Family Office Services include directing and supervising all investment management and asset allocation issues, coordinating estate planning and generation succession efforts, and facilitating and implementing family meetings. Ms. Soldano maintains direct contact with family members on these and other matters, often speaking with them daily regarding family business and related issues.

In addition, Ms. Soldano is President of Policy and Taxation Group an organization that educates on the destructive effects of the estate tax to families and their businesses, and advocates for the reform of the estate tax through lobbying legislators and executive branch officials in Washington DC. In addition, as one of the founding partners of Women Impacting Public Policy, Ms. Soldano works collectively with 500,000 other women business owners to advance the economic issues important to women business owners.

Ms. Soldano, a registered investment advisor, received her MBA from Claremont Graduate School, and her BA in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton. She is a member of the Advisory Board for Medical Neurosciences University of California, Irvine, and a member of Women’s Philanthropy Fund of Orange County. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County, and serves as the Policy Committee Chairman. She has been published in Trusts & Estates Magazine, Private Wealth Advisors, The Washington Post, Forbes, Pacific Research Institute, Fund Fire and other newspapers and periodicals. She has made presentations at national conferences throughout the United States, including the Investment Advisor Association, AICPA, USC Family Business Program, Institute for International Research, and others. Additionally, she has testified before the Ways and Means Committee for the Congress of the United States. She currently serves on the Editorial Committee for High Net-Worth Families for Trusts & Estates magazine and the Advisory Board for both Paul Merage School of Business and the Investment and Wealth Center for University of California, Irvine.

Mark Polzin
Investment and Operations Consultant

Before joining Cymric Family Office as a consultant, Mark Polzin had been with Moreland Management Co., Mayfield Heights, OH, since 1989, retiring as its president and chief executive officer.  Moreland is a full service single family office, providing accounting, tax, investment, and administrative support.  It maintains an additional office in Boston.  Mark joined Moreland after eighteen years as an officer of several mid-western community banks and bank holding companies, serving in senior positions in trust and investment departments, as well as in management roles and as a bank and holding company director.  Prior to his banking career, he was in private law practice.

Mark has had a broadly based business career.  As a trust officer, he worked in personal trust, tax, probate, investments and employee benefit areas.  As a trust department head, he gained management and information technology experience.  In his role as a senior bank officer and director, he was responsible for bank and branch operations, marketing and sales, information technology, human resources, trust investment, bank asset/liability and investment management, and legal support.  At the holding company level, he gained further board and public company experience and had a significant role in acquisitions. 

Mark has a B.S. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a J.D. from Marquette University Law School.  He is admitted to practice in Wisconsin, Iowa, to the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and the United States Tax Court, and is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar and the Iowa State Bar Association.

He is a past chairman of the board of trustees and current finance committee chairman of Grand River Academy, Austinburg, Ohio, a college preparatory boys’ boarding school, past president of his church council, and a Regent of Concordia University Wisconsin.  Among other charitable and community roles during his business career, he was a member of the national board of directors of Girl Scouts of the USA for eight years, during which time he chaired its national finance committee and national investment subcommittee, was a member of the national executive committee, and headed the national headquarters building relocation task group in New York City.

Mark is a director, chairman of the nominating and corporate governance committee, and audit committee member of Genco Shipping & Trading Ltd. (GNK:NYSE), a Marshall Islands based drybulk fleet.  He is a director or advisory director of several private business ventures involving technology, banking, cable television and media content, mezzanine lending, business transition consulting, and venture capital secondary market investing.  He is also the managing member of Wyoming Consulting LLC.

He is president of Ranch Fiduciary Corporation, Farms Fiduciary Corporation, and Laurel Fiduciary Corporation.  These three Wyoming trustee entities act as trustee of numerous family trusts.  Mark was an industry leader in utilizing this entity type.  He was also instrumental in 1998 in obtaining an exemption for Moreland under the Investment Advisors Act of 1940.  At the time, it was the first such exemption granted by the Securities Exchange Commission since 1947.  Several other family offices have since followed Moreland’s lead in both these areas.
 
In recent years, Mark has been a speaker or panelist at seminars sponsored by The Northern Trust Company, Family Office Exchange, Harris Bank, Financial Research Associates and Institute for International Research, on subjects including technology, management transition, business structures for family offices, human resources, and investments.  He and his wife reside in Hudson, Ohio and Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Their son and daughter-in-law reside in Brington, England, where she is serving with a joint intelligence unit of the US Army, US Air Force, and Britain’s Royal Air Force.

Sandra M. Juranich, CPA
Chief Financial Officer

Sandy joined Cymric Family Office Services in August of 1997. She is responsible for all aspects of Cymric client families' accounting, tax and insurance needs. She reviews the general ledgers and financial reports for each Cymric client family entity, including cash flows and statements of net worth for distribution to family members and for family meetings. In addition, she assists client families with their business accounting records, coordinating purchase and/or sale of real estate and other transactions as requested.

Sandy is also responsible for coordinating with outside insurance brokers to manage insurance associated with Cymric's client families. This includes maintaining property, automobile, umbrella and life insurance policies, as well as securing new insurance as needed. She also oversees tax planning and tax compliance. Sandy assists the President with implementing investment strategies. She also administers the company’s 401(k) plan and other company benefits.

Sandy’s prior experience includes working for Ernst & Young LLP as a tax manager. She supervised tax seniors and staff, managed the tax compliance process including scheduling and staffing, performed top-level review of individual, partnership and corporate tax returns, performed tax research, and corresponded with the Internal Revenue Service and state-taxing authorities. Prior to Ernst & Young LLP, she worked for a local CPA firm that specialized in entrepreneurial business and individual clients, where she prepared and reviewed tax returns, compilations, reviews, and audited financial statements.
Sandy received her BS in Business Administration with accounting concentration from California State University, Long Beach. She is a licensed CPA in the state of California. Outside of the office, Sandy enjoys serving in her local church as a Sunday school teacher, summer camp counselor and co-leader of a financial stewardship bible study.

Steve Binge
INVESTMENT ANALYST

Steve has over 12 years of investment management experience with companies such as WCM Investment Management, Washington Mutual, and American Funds.  He has extensive experience analyzing individual investments as well as investment portfolios. He is responsible for analyzing and monitoring client portfolios, implementing strategy decisions, calculating performance, and client reporting.  Steve also serves as the Compliance Officer and is responsible for maintaining and updating the ADV.  He graduated from Cal State University Fullerton in 1995 with a B.A. degree in Finance.

Steve enjoys sports, playing music, and mountain biking in his spare time.

Robert E. Dye
Attorney at Law

Robert E. Dye graduated in 1969 with High Honors from Whittier College with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and in 1970 with a Master of Arts in Speech. Mr. Dye graduated in 1973 from the University of Southern California Law School with his Juris Doctor, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif, served as Executive Editor of Publications and staff member of the Southern California Law Review, and was winner of the Hale Moot Court Honors Program. Mr. Dye was admitted to the California Bar in 1973 and is a member of the Orange Country Bar Association and the State Bar of California.

Mr. Dye practices in a full range of business and real estate matters. Mr. Dye’s business practice consists primarily of business formation and planning, capital formation, mergers and acquisitions, contract preparation, and securities law compliance matters. Mr. Dye’s real estate practice consists primarily of representing commercial and industrial property owners and developers in all types of real estate transactions, including property acquisition and sale, financing, and commercial and industrial leasing. Mr. Dye also has an active practice representing high net worth individuals in connection with a wide variety of business issues, including operational business matters, personal investment transactions, and business succession planning. Mr. Dye serves as out outside general counsel to Cymric Family Office Services, a federally registered investment advisor organization that serves as a multi-family office for high net worth individuals.

Mr. Dye presently serves on the Board of Directors of The Hope Family Fund of Southern California, a charitable organization providing funding for counseling services to troubled youth.

Rosemary Valenti
Tax Manager

Rosemary Valenti is responsible for all aspects of Cymric’s tax planning and compliance functions.

Ms. Valenti is responsible for tax planning and compliance for the taxable entities associated with Cymric’s client families. Her functions include reviewing individual, partnership, corporate, trust, gift and private foundation tax returns and quarterly and year-end tax projections for all clients. She also performs tax research and tax planning strategies, and is responsible for the administration of tax payments of all the entities associated with Cymric’s client families. Rosemary also corresponds with the federal and state taxing authorities as needed.

Ms. Valenti’s prior experience includes working for Ernst & Young LLP as a tax compliance manager. She supervised tax seniors and staff and was responsible for scheduling and staffing. She performed tax planning and research. Prior to Ernst & Young, Rosemary worked as an accounting and tax manager for a real estate developer where she was responsible for the filing of more than 50 corporate and partnership tax returns. She also worked for a local CPA firm with a diversified practice where she reviewed and prepared tax returns.

Ms. Valenti earned her BS in Accounting from California State University, Long Beach and her Masters Degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University in Irvine. She is a licensed CPA in the state of California. Rosemary enjoys music, reading, gardening and traveling with her husband and twin sons.

Rebecca Newman
Assistant Controller

Rebecca joined Cymric Family Office Services in July of 2007. She assists with the accounting, investment and tax needs of the client families. She monitors clients’ cash balances by maintaining general ledgers and preparing financial reports for each Cymric client family entity, including cash flows, budgets, and budget to actual comparisons. She analyzes and updates clients’ investment activity and prepares statements of net worth on a quarterly basis.

Rebecca's prior experience includes working for Bright Now Dental as Manager of Corporate Accounting. She supervised senior accountants and staff and was responsible for the accounting and reporting of all corporate departments. She performed budget analysis and research. Prior to Bright Now Dental, Rebecca worked as a senior accountant for a health care REIT where she was responsible for the corporation's debt service and cash management. She had also worked in their Managed Portfolio department where she was responsible for analyzing the third party management financial reports for 100 medical office buildings.

Rebecca received her BA in Business Administration with accounting concentration from California State University, Northridge. She has passed her CPA exam. Rebecca enjoys the arts, travel and music.
